SoHum Health is proud to announce the launch of MRI services in Garberville, bringing advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) closer to home for Southern Humboldt residents. Patients in Humboldt, Mendocino and Trinity Counties now have another closer option for receiving an MRI, with shorter wait times and convenient scheduling.

Beginning on Saturday, July 11, patients can receive MRI exams at Jerold Phelps Community Hospital through a partnership with Heritage Imaging, reducing the need for long-distance travel for diagnostic care.

The mobile MRI unit will be located adjacent to the Emergency Department at Jerold Phelps Community Hospital and offer appointments every Saturday of the month.

The new service features:

• Hospital-grade, 1.5T MRI equipment with Subtle AI for ultra-clear imaging
• Shorter scan times allowing for more comfortable patient experience
• Ability to do almost any MRI exam with and without contrast (except cardiac)
• Reliable results in streamlined reports, delivered within 24 hours

The launch of MRI services reflects SoHum Health’s ongoing commitment to strengthening rural healthcare infrastructure. Plans for the Healthcare District’s future hospital include permanent MRI access as part of their expanded imaging services.
